A lead in cotton rope.

Hand-braided, then finished so it cannot fray.
Three-strand cotton rope, braided by hand and whipped at both ends so the lay cannot open up. It softens against the coat the way webbing never does, and the cast hardware keeps its colour through salt water and rain.
Length is the decision, not size.
Pick the length for how you walk: shorter for traffic and heel work, longer for open ground. Every length below uses the same strap and the same hardware.
How do I choose a size?
Measure around the base of your dog’s neck and allow two fingers’ slack. Between two sizes, size up — the buckle takes up the difference.
